openHITgroup

Advancing HealthIT through expert collaboration.

openHITgroup is a group of HealthIT gurus who work together, get peer review, conduct research, and operate as subject matter experts (SMEs) throughout the industry. We both sell and volunteer our services and act as a support group for our members.

"We are not self-made. We are dependent on one another. Admitting this to ourselves isn't an embrace of mediocrity and derivativeness, it's a liberation from our misconceptions." ~ Kirby Ferguson

Staff

openHITgroup is currently collecting resumes for people who fit in the following roles:

  • Proposal/grant lead. As we grow up, we need help finding projects - and responding to government solicitations and going after grant opportunities.
  • Partnership and teaming lead.
Most of our work is done by helping out large projects in a discrete way. To do this, we need to establish and maintain a lot of partnerships and teaming agreements.

Please send you resume and interest letter to resumes@openHITgroup.org.

Members

Currently we are building membership informally - meaning that the typical new member learns about us by actually working with or talking to an existing member. Membership isn't like a professional association - here's what you give/get:

  • Your time helping your crew (openHITgroup is divided into agile crews that collaborate with each other in a particular area), providing ideas, research, and peer-review. In exchange you get the time of the others in your crew (you help them, they help you).
  • You will also get opportunities to bill your time and join SME contract work. A percentage of that revenue (from work generated by openHITgroup) is pushed back into the organization.

Interns/Protégé

We are always looking for people who would like to volunteer their execution time in exchange for mentoring/training from an openHITgroup crew.

These relationships can either be structured as formal unpaid internships (and we have a relationship and communication path with your school) or as mentorships for those that are established in their careers (but maybe just beginning in HealthIT). The program is run as a single process, regardless of which camp you fall into.

If you would like to be considered for our next round of interns/protégés - please email us your resume and interest letter to intern-mentee@openHITgroup.org.

Partners

We are looking for a variety of partners:

  • We are interested in joining teams that focus on HealthIT work in the Federal/State space - both for potential work (RFP/RFQ/SOW teams) and existing IDIQ or similar vehicles.
  • Incubators that can offer basic resources to one or more of our SME crews.
  • Sponsors for our speaking engagements and volunteer research/analysis/coding projects. In return, we plug into your sales/marketing team and co-brand a particular initiative.

If any of these areas interests you, or if you have your own ideas, please email us your thoughts to partners@openHITgroup.org.
